Teaching Assistants

A number of Teaching Assistant positions are available in the department. These paid position are open only to University of Toronto Students who have demonstrated a sound knowledge of the relevant subject matter and who have the ability to impart that knowledge to other students. All contracts are by session and extend for four months each as per the length of the session.

Course Instructors

Hiring Criteria for these positions includes, but is not limited to, academic qualifications, mastery of the subject matter and past teaching experience. Preference in hiring will be given to graduate students enrolled in the School of Graduate Studies at the University of Toronto. This is pursuant to Article 16 of the CUPE Local 3902 Unit 1 Collective Agreement. These positions are tentative, pending final course determinations and enrolment.

Sessional Lecturers

These paid positions are open to applicants who have sound knowledge of the relevant subject matter and who have the ability to impart that knowledge to the students. All contracts are by session and extend for four months each as per the length of each session. Hiring Criteria for these positions includes but are not limited to, academic qualifications, mastery of the subject matter, Teaching excellence and past teaching experience. Preference in hiring will be given to Sessional Lecturers currently appointed at the University of Toronto. It is understood that the posted position may or may not be filled at the discretion of the department, or may ultimately be filled by an appointed or retired faculty member. This is pursuant to Article 14 of the CUPE Local 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement. These positions are tentative, pending final course determinations and enrolment.
