on calculators: A:
The University of Toronto at Scarborough
has a policy on the use of calculators in tests and examinations.
Students should consult with instructors about whether the
use of calculators is permitted in their course and if so
which models are approved. The use of an unauthorized calculator
may be treated as an academic offence. (see also http://www.scar.utoronto.ca/courses/calendar/Academic_Regulations.html
Academic_Regulations_(Part_III).html) In courses, where
the models that can be used are restricted, only the following
calculators are authorized in test and examinations (the models
in parantheses are allowed, but may longer be sold):
-
Texas Instruments TI-30, TI-34II Explorer Plus
- Sharp
EL531
- Casio
fx-65, fx-250, fx-260
- (Texas
Instruments TI-Explorer Plus/TI-32, Sharp EL-509, Casio
fx-280)
Additional letters after the calculator number do not count in determining the model
number of the calculator, e.g. EL-531R is the same as the EL-531, thus is allowed.
