Before your first tutorial

sign up for a UTSC computer account
visit the web site for Computer and Networking Services, this web site contains a lot of basic information that will help you to get started with using the computers in the labs on campus
if you have little or no experience using computers, read Beekman Ch.0 Basics

Software

Download Mozilla - email and web browser.
Visual Basic Version 6.0 - either the full version or the Working Model version may be used for this course. This software is not available as a free download on the Internet. Here is some information about how to get a copy for home use.

Symantec Anti-Virus - this software is free for all faculty, staff and students enrolled in degree-granting programs at UofT.

Tutorial	Files used in tutorials
8	mail merge file (t8list.ods) If you are downloading this with Internet Explorer, it will save it with a .zip file extension. Make sure you type t8list.ods as the file name and select "All Files" as the type.
9	CSV data file (calc.csv) Start by opening this file to reduce typing. spreadsheet View the result.
10	CSV data file (precipitation.csv) Start by opening this file to reduce typing. spreadsheets & charts View the result.
11	Address list (addresses.ods) If you are downloading this with Internet Explorer, it will save it with a .zip file extension. Make sure you type addresses.ods as the file name and select "All Files" as the type.
